The southern province of Kien Giang is intensifying efforts to meet the anticipated surge in tourist demand during the final two months of the year.

The Dien Bien provincial People's Committee on March 2 organised a meeting with representatives of production and service businesses in the locality to discuss preparations for major events in the Visit Vietnam Year - Dien Bien 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – 2024).

The number of visitors to the resort island of Phu Quoc, the southern province of Kien Giang, surged strongly in June, with around 140 flights and over 40 ferries and boats carrying tens of thousands of tourists to and from the island each day.

Travel companies in Vietnam have made plans to meet the rising demand for visitors as the summer holiday peaks.

Hanoi welcomed 700,000 domestic tourists and 31,448 foreigners who visited or participated in events of the recently concluded SEA Games 31, the municipal Department of Tourism announced on May 24.
