Vietnam currently ranks fifth among Asian U23 teams, following Uzbekistan, Japan, Iraq, and the Republic of Korea.

Vietnam have officially made it through to the finals of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship after thrashing Thailand with four goals in their last qualifier on March 26 to claim top spot in Group K.

Vietnam’s U23 team beat Indonesia 1 - 0 in the Asian Football Confederation U23 Championship qualification round in Hanoi on March 24.

The Vietnam Olympic football team is being heaped with encouragement and applause, especially from Southeast Asia’s media, before the quarterfinals at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018, where the team will face Syrian rivals.
