Vietnam’s exports are expected to thrive in the remaining months of the year thanks to local businesses' concerted efforts and robust results during the January – September period, according to insiders.
Vietnam’s agro-forestry-aquatic product exports raked in some 19.06 billion USD in the first four months of 2024, up 23.7% year-on-year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) reported.
Despite suffering a year-on-year decrease of 11.1% in the first five months of 2023, agro-forestry-aquatic product exports are expected to rebound in the remaining months of this year thanks to recovery momentum in main export markets, insiders said.
Vietnam earned over 3.4 billion USD from agro-forestry-aquatic product exports in February, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.
Vietnam’s agro-forestry-aquatic product export and import turnover was estimated at 22.6 billion USD in the first quarter of this year, up 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Vietnam is expected to make breakthroughs in exporting aquatic products in the coming time thanks to its good performance of biological safety, and benefits brought by free trade agreements (FTAs), according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
With good results seen in the first seven months of this year, experts forecast that the revenue target of 4.2 billion USD in vegetable and fruit exports for 2019 is reachable.
