Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is considering a plan to resume bauxite ore export, following a call by the House of Representatives to lift the ban as part of an effort to develop the economy in mining areas.

Indonesian president Joko Widodo said his government will soon consider halting the export of unprocessed copper ores to encourage domestic processing of raw materials in the country’s industrialisation push, following a similar policy on nickel and bauxite.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has advised the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong to capitalize on its strengths in agriculture, tourism, and mining for its future overall development.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has asked the coal sector to prioritise coal production for domestic use, thereby ensuring the stability of national energy reserve.
