General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence, held talks with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Chansamone Chanyalath on the occasion of the second Vietnam-Laos border defence friendship exchange in the northwestern province of Son La on October 22.

The second Vietnam-Laos border defence friendship exchange is scheduled for October 22-23, expected to help enhance the special relations of solidarity and friendship between the two countries, heard a press conference on October 15.

Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang and his Chinese counterpart Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun co-chaired activities within the eighth Vietnam-China border defence friendship exchange which opened in Vietnam’s Lao Cai province on April 11.

The first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia border defence friendship exchange was held on December 14 in the tri-border area that comprises Ngoc Hoi district in Vietnam’s Central Highland province of Kon Tum, Laos’ Attapeu province, and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province as well as in Kon Tum city.

The eighth border defence friendship exchange between Vietnam and China is scheduled to take place in Vietnam’s northern province of Lao Cai and its neighbouring Chinese province of Yunnan on September 7 - 8.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Defence - Security Council and Commander of the people’s armed forces, paid a working visit to Military Region 1’s headquarters in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on April 25.

Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh has requested military units in Cao Bang to well prepare for the fifth Vietnam-China border defence friendship exchange programme.

The fourth Vietnam-China border defence friendship exchange is scheduled to take place in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau and Yunnan province of China in May.

Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh and his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan hailed the third border defence friendship exchange between the two countries as a success.
