A map of Vietnam has been crafted using 5,000 lotus flower pots on the surface of Khong Tu Lake in Van Mieu Park, Cao Lanh city in the Mekong delta province of Dong Thap.

Dong Thap province has developed nearly 100 community-based tourism sites to date and become the third-most attractive locality in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region.

After seven years of implementation, the project to upgrade urban areas in the Mekong Delta region, part of a larger project at national level for the 2009-2020 period, has benefited nearly 1.2 million people.

Mekong Delta provinces are on the right track to lure more holidaymakers and turn tourism into a spearhead industry after PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved a master plan to develop tourism in the region.

Construction on Vincom Plaza shopping complex, the first of its kind in the southern province of Dong Thap, began in Cao Lanh city, on July 11.
