Indonesia's coal production reached a new high in 2024 amid soaring domestic and global energy demand.

The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) said it gained nearly 8.5 trillion VND (2.24 billion USD) in revenue in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 4%.

Indonesia plans to produce 695 million tonnes and export 518 million tonnes of coal this year, said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif.

Indonesia has set its coal production target at 550 million tonnes for 2021, a figure unchanged from this year, due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) anticipates a turnover of 110 trillion VND (4.8 billion USD) this year.

All eight coal-mining companies under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), listed on the two stock exchanges, have reported larger profits in the first half of 2015.
