Vietnam is entering a period where major trends such as international integration, the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution, population aging and new social issues are affecting women and girls. These new sociocultural concerns risk exacerbating Vietnam's existing gender issues.

Despite the various improvements in the promotion of gender quality and women empowerment, much still remains for Vietnam to do to ease gender prejudice and enhance public awareness on women’s role, according to experts.

Vietnam has been among the leading countries in Asia-Pacific in recording marked progress in gender quality and women’s empowerment over recent decades.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation launched a project on supporting the Vietnamese Government in building industrial strategies.
