Party General Secretary and State President To Lam met with the Presidents of Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar and Ghana within the framework of the 19th Francophonie Summit at Villers-Cotterêts castle, France, on October 4.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló who is on an official visit to Vietnam from September 5-8, during which the two leaders agreed to work together to develop the bilateral relations in the spirit of sincere, equal, and mutually beneficial partnership.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam said the official visit by Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the first delegation exchange at the Head of State level between the two countries since they established diplomatic ties in 1973, will be a success, injecting a new impetus into bilateral friendship and cooperation.

President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo visited the Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI) under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) in Lien Hong commune of Hai Duong city, the northern province of Hai Duong, on September 6.

Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his spouse are currently on an official visit to Vietnam from September 5-9. This visit, made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President To Lam and his spouse, marks the first time a President of Guinea-Bissau has visited Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973.

President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on September 5 evening, starting a four-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh had bilateral meetings with the Dutch Prime Minister, and Foreign Ministers of Sierra Leon, Guinea-Bissau and Malawi in New York on September 23 on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations, has reaffirmed Vietnam’s support for the implementation of duties of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS) under the UN Security Council (UNSC)’s Resolution 2512 (2020).
