The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s food industry targets Vietnam as a premier market for K-Food as companies entering the Southeast Asian country early continue to consider it as a key market for their overseas business operations, said insiders.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has asked the Vietnam Sanitary and Phytosanitary Notification Authority and Enquiry Point (Vietnam SPS Office) to give opinions to tackle difficulties caused by Vietnamese instant noodles subject to ethylene oxide (EO) residual control by the EU.

Efforts in food safety control, including the establishment of a task force granting food safety certificates to noodles, have won recognition from the EU, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.​

The vegetarian food segment has been attracting a great deal of attention from businesses in recent years and gradually satisfied the tastes of customers.

Vietnam has a huge domestic market for instant noodles with sales of nearly 20 trillion VND (888.9million USD) per year.
