Every year during the third lunar month, Ba Duong Noi village in Dan Phuong district, Hanoi comes alive with its traditional kite festival. This year is more special as the centuries-old celebration has been officially recognised as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The south central province of Binh Thuan will hold a kite festival from October 22-29, during which a Guinness record for the largest kite in Vietnam will be set.

Kite flyers from 20 clubs in five northern localities have gathered together to create a colourful festival in centuries-old Ba Duong Noi village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Dan Phuong.

A kite festival with more than 50 kites of many designs and colours recently took place in the central city of Da Nang within this year’s Da Nang – Summer Destination event.

More than 300 kites of all colours, shapes and sizes are being showcased in Hoi An ancient city and on Tam Thanh beach of Tam Ky city in the central province of Quang Nam.

The International Kite Festival, themed “Dance of Peace”, was opened in Vung Tau city, the coastal province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on December 9.

An international kite festival will take off on April 30 at Ecopark, a new urban residential area in Hung Yen Province, about 13km from Hanoi’s city centre.
