Ha Giang and Hoi An have been named among the 44 most beautiful places in the world by renowned UK-based travel magazine Time Out.

In the first weeks of the new year, Ha Giang has seen an overwhelming influx of visitors, with traffic jams frequently reported on mountain passes like Tham Ma Slope, Bac Sum Slope, and Ma Pi Leng Pass.

In 1959, the youth volunteers opened a 184-km road on Ha Giang karst plateau, from Ha Giang town to Dong Van, crossing Ma Pi Leng peak to Meo Vac. Named "Con duong Hanh Phuc” (Happiness Road), this is both a lifeline traffic road to the four highland districts of Ha Giang province, and a symbol of the revolutionary spirit of Vietnam.

Ma Pi Leng pass, dubbed the most beautiful in Vietnam, is a 20 km section of National Highway No 4C connecting the two districts of Dong Van and Meo Vac in Ha Giang province. Visitors to Ma Pi Leng pass, with Nho Que river flowing below, will be surprised at the majestic space of mountains and forests against a clear blue sky.

Shaped like a question mark on Road 4C, Pai Lung Slope in Pai Lung commune of Dong Van district, the northernmost province of Ha Giang, offers visitors not only beautiful scenery but also a memorable experience to discover the story behind the nickname Road of Happiness.

Unique, not-so-busy destinations imbued with indigenous identities or pristine nature are key to domestic tourists for 2022. Up to 80 percent of Vietnamese tourists, when surveyed, said they will take a vacation to make up for what the COVID-19 pandemic has deprived them of.
