The National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation held a ceremony in Hanoi on June 15 to honour 100 outstanding blood donors in 2024.

A series of activities are underway in Hanoi and the northern mid-land province of Phu Tho from July 27-29 to honour 100 exemplary voluntary blood donors nationwide this year.

Vietnam collected 1.336 million blood units in 2018, of which 98.3 percent were donated by volunteer donors who account for only 1.68 percent of the nation’s population, heard a conference held by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Hanoi on March 12.

Thousands of people in northern mountainous and central provinces have braved the severe hot weather to take part in blood donation events of the Red Journey campaign over the past days.

The trans-nation Red Journey blood donation campaign kicked off in Chu Pah district, the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on June 26, with more than 500 officials, cadres, workers and students taking part.

The National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the Ninh Binh province chapter of the Vietnam Red Cross Society held a ceremony on June 7 in Ninh Binh province to honour 100 outstanding blood donors.

A wide range of activities will be held from June 7-9 in the capital city of Hanoi and the northern province of Ninh Binh to honour 100 outstanding blood donors nationwide to celebrate World Blood Donor Day (June 14).
