On May 17, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Government’s Steering Committee on Science and Technology Development, Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Project 06, chaired the second meeting where it was confirmed that Project 06’s implementation has been strongly promoted and widely disseminated, delivering practical benefits to people and businesses, enhancing social management, and supporting socio-economic development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested localities to set up task forces to crack down on smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, copyright infringement, and intellectual property violations, given the recent bust involving 100 tonnes of counterfeit pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed the Ministry of Public Security to work alongside ministries and sectors to finalise the development of specialised databases aimed at enhancing the quality of online public services.
The directive states that the Politburo has identified "the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation as a key breakthrough, a main driving force for rapidly developing modern productive forces, perfecting production relations, innovating national governance methods, socio-economic development, preventing the risk of backwardness, and propelling the country to significant development and prosperity in the new era."
It is tasked with studying and proposing the Government and the PM national strategies, policies, and solutions for developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. Besides, it is in charge of overseeing the implementation of project No. 06 on developing the application of population data, identification, and e-authentication data, as well as administrative reform efforts.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 10 asked for more drastic implementation of the project on developing resident data, electronic identification and authentication applications to serve national digital transformation in the 2022-2025 period, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06), and for promoting data connection and sharing to serve e-commerce development and improve tax management, thus bringing concrete and practical benefits to people and businesses.
2023 will be a year of forming and exploiting data to create new values, stated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a meeting on December 25 to review one year of implementing a project on developing the application of population database, e-identification, and e-authentication for the national digital transformation in the 2022-2025 period with a vision to 2030 (Project 06).
