Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Duc Hai had courtesy meetings with Speaker of the Senate Raymonde Gagne and Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada Greg Fergus in Ottawa on October 1.

Vietnam is an important trading partner of Canada in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and this will open up chances for stronger cooperation between the two countries to expand Canadian goods and services’ presence in Asia, said co-chair of the Canada - ASEAN Business Council (CABC) Janet De Silva.

Vietnam and Canada have obtained numerous achievements in bilateral relations over the last 50 years, but there remains substantial potential for them to advance those ties, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the North American country Pham Vinh Quang.

Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue received new Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Perry Steil in Hanoi on August 25.
