With the theme 'Asian Bridges', DANAFF will be attended by Asian and international filmmakers, famous Vietnamese filmmakers and artists, alongside screenings from young filmmakers and is expected to attract numerous cinematic fans to the coastal city.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and the Da Nang People’s Committee, the event will feature around 200 screenings, the organisers said at a press conference held in Hanoi on June 3.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Vietnamese Permanent Representative to the UN, affirmed that cinema plays a vital role as a cultural bridge, helping the two peoples become closer and understand each other over the 30 years of normalisation, development, and enhancement of bilateral relations.

The Vietnamese Government is committed to creating the most favourable conditions to attract film projects and is eager to listen to feedback from US partners, a diplomat has said.

“Mua tren canh buom” (Don’t cry, Butterfly) garnered accolades at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival and won the MPA’s coveted Best Screenplay award in 2019.
