The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UVFTA) is one of the key drivers boosting the growth of Vietnam’s timber and wood product exports to the UK, industry experts have said.
The export value of timber and wood products in Vietnam is estimated to reach over 6 billion USD in the first five months of this year, an increase of 18% over the same period last year, according to General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Timber enterprises were calling for support in terms of market information, requirements and consumer tastes to cope with declining exports which were pushing them into many difficulties from the beginning of this year.
Management agencies should roll out mechanisms and policies to promote the linkage between businesses and craft villages in the wood sector, heard a workshop in the southern province of Dong Nai on November 4.
