China remained Vietnam’s largest durian export market, purchasing over 2.9 billion USD worth of the fruit, around 91% of total export revenue.

Though the first batch of fresh durians officially exported to China received a warm welcome from local consumers, both sides need to outline measures to boost sustainable export of the fruit since it is currently selling for a lower price than those from Thailand and Malaysia.

Vietnamese durians have made a name for themselves as a great-tasting fruit for overseas consumers but still have a long way to go the maintain their position on the international scene, according to insiders.
