Vietnam’s traditional medicine took centre stage at the International Congress Biopharm Nonclinical Development, BioNCiD 2025, held on May 25-26 in the Cuban city of Varadero, amid growing global interest in sustainable healthcare solutions.
Vietnamese traditional medicine is facing numerous opportunities as well as challenges in the context of deepening international integration and comprehensive reforms of the health system, said deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong.
Vietnam is home to around 400 hot springs, over 5,000 plant and fungi species, 400 animal species, and 75 medicinal minerals, offering rich resources for herbal and traditional medicine to benefit health care and tourism.
Traditional professions were a unique cultural feature of ancient Hanoi. In order to preserve this feature, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi’s Old Quarter have held a series of cultural activities with the theme “Preserving ancient professions on the streets”, focusing on introducing Vietnamese traditional medicine on Lan Ong Street.
An exhibition on biodiversity in Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve and Vietnamese traditional medicine was held in Italy’s Abano Terme city of Padova province on May 29.
