Vietnam's shrimp exports grew in the first half of this year, but the market is facing competition from other countries in the world.

Vietnam’s export of aquatic products in July showed positive signs with an increase of 9 percent year-on-year, particularly with exports of shrimp and other products rising, except for pangasius.

Vietnam’s shrimp export value to China in July saw a year-on-year increase of 48 percent, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The European Union (EU) was the largest market of Vietnamese shrimp in the first two months of 2019, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Entrepreneurs (VASEP).

Price of material shrimp, especially tiger prawn, was on the rise in August, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
