Hanoi (VNA) – The2023 Highlights of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in Asia-Pacific workshop openedin Hanoi on March 10.

Held in Vietnam for the first time, the two-dayevent is co-hosted by the ASH and the National Institute of Hematology andBlood Transfusion (NIHBT).

Speaking at the event, NIHBT Chairman Dr.Bach Quoc Khanh welcomed and expressed his thanks to over 400 leaders and membersof hematology societies from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong (China), India,Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan(China), Thailand and Pakistan.

During the event, Khanh and NIHBT DirectorAssoc. Prof Nguyen Ha Thanh will co-chair presentation sessions with twoexperts from the ASH.

The event aimed to introduce the remarkableresults from the 64th annual scientific conference held in the last December,enabling doctors and scientists to update research results and progress in thediagnosis and treatment of blood diseases.

Similar events did and will take place in theNorth America, including Washington, New York and San Francisco; in Istanbul ofTurkey and Sao Paulo of Brazil from January-April.

✤ ASH is the biggest professional society inthe world with over 18,000 members from nearly 100 countries, includingclinical physicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals working inthe field of hematology./.

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

෴ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
