Hanoi (VNA) - Doctors of theNational Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology have saved a premature babyweighing 500 gram, the hospital announced on June 7.

Associate Professor, Doctor Vu Ba Quyet, directorof the hospital, said the baby was born on January 26 when she was only 26weeks old, with an incomplete respiratory system.

After several months of intensive care, thebaby weighs 2.65kg  and can be breast-fedand move. She was discharged from the hospital on June 7.

Preterm births are those that occurbefore the start of the 37th week of pregnancy. About 160,000 babiesare born prematurely in Vietnam each year, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam has been listed among 42countries with the highest rates of infant mortality, with premature deathsaccounting for 25 percent of infant deaths, according to the World HealthOrganisation.-VNA

🍷 Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
