5th Vietnam Rice Festival concludes

The 5th Vietnam Rice Festival wrapped up in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on January 10 with "Ngoc Troi Thien Vuong " (LT28) rice of Loc Troi Group (LTG) winning the first prize of the good Vietnamese rice trademark competition.

Vinh Long (VNA) - The 5th Vietnam RiceFestival wrapped up in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on January 10with "Ngoc Troi Thien Vuong " (LT28) rice of Loc Troi Group (LTG) winning the first prizeof the good Vietnamese rice trademark competition.

Co-organised by the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU), the Ministryof Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Vinh Long People's Committee, the festivalfeatured nearly 400 stalls run by 665 businesses and cooperatives. Its themehighlighted sustainable agricultural development.

There were also sideline events such as a workshop on rice products developedunder the “One Commune One Product” programme; competitions for Vietnamese ricetrademarks and dishes made from rice; and an exhibition on achievements of theVietnamese rice sector.

During its four-day course, the festival attracted more than30,000 visitors.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Pham Minh Hung, head ofthe VFU office in the southern region, praised its important meaning inboosting rice exports and the production of high-quality rice.

The festival has supported localities and enterprises in implementingtheir trade promotion solutions in contribution to the realisation of thenation’s goal toward agricultural industrialisation and modernisation, andnew-style rural area development, he stressed./.
