The information technology (IT) sector recorded the highest growth injob vacancies in the third quarter of 2014, accounting for 15 percent oftotal jobs, according to a report by Navigos Search, the leadingprovider of executive recruitment services in Vietnam.

The ITsector ranks second out the top five sectors with the highest demand fornew employees. In the previous quarter, it ranked fourth with 9percent.

Navigos Search Managing Director Nguyen Thi Van Anh saidthe sector was booming due to an increase in incomes, the modernisationof businesses and improved government policies.

Outsourcing ofIT services from other countries to Vietnam is also an important factorin the sector’s expansion, she stated.

Thereport shows that Vietnam is becoming a manufacturing hub for electronicdevices due to a rise in salaries for IT employees in China. Producersare therefore moving to Vietnam, where salaries are two thirds lowerthan in China.

Between July and September, themanufacturing sector recorded the highest demand for senior andmiddle-ranking personnel.

The garment andfootwear sector accounted for 10 percent of total job vacancies, rankingthird. During the second quarter, it was in fifth place.

It was followed by retail and the financing, banking and insurance sector, with 9 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

The highest monthly salary paid in July-September was 110 million VND(5,170 USD) paid by a retail company in Ho Chi Minh City for its salesmanager and by a services group in Hanoi for its finance manager.

Based on figures for the first 10 days of October, Navigos Searchpredicts the three sectors with the highest demand for senior andmiddle-ranking employees until the end of this year will be the garmentsector (17 percent), information technology and retail (12 percenteach).-VNA
