- State President To Lam hosted a grand welcome ceremony with 21-cannon salute for Russian President Vladimir Putin at noon on June 20.

- Russian President Vladimir Putin is paying a state visit to Vietnam from June 19 to 20 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

This is his fifth visit to the Southeast Asian country, which is one of his first stops since he was sworn in for a fifth term in early May this year. Read full story

- On the occasion of his state visit to Vietnam from June 19-20, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent an article on the history, current status and future of the Russia-Vietnam partnership to Nhan dan (People) newspaper for publication.

In the article, the Russian leader highlighted the role of President Ho Chi Minh in initiating the relations between the two countries, noting that last year, a statue of the late Vietnamese leader was inaugurated in St. Petersburg to mark the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to the “northern capital” of Russia. - The 15th National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to discuss the Hanoi Capital Planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2045, and a project to amend the master plan of Hanoi until 2045 with a vision to 2065 on June 20 as part of the legislature’s ongoing seventh session.

On the day, the NA will discuss in groups a draft law on amendments and supplementation to a number of articles of the 2024 Land Law, the 2023 Housing Law, the 2023 Law on Real Estate Business, and 2024 Law on Credit Institutions. Read full story

- The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on June 19 signed a cooperation agreement with TV BRICS International Media Network.

The document was inked by Bui Duy Trinh, head of the VNA representative office in Russia, who was authorised by the agency’s General Director Vu Viet Trang, and CEO of TV BRICS Janna Tolstikova on the sidelines of the XV International IT Forum in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District. - The Government on June 19 issued a resolution outlining an action programme to implement the Politburo's Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW, dated November 24, 2023, on promoting traditions and strenthening the great national solidarity bloc for a more prosperous and happier country.

- During the first six months of 2024, Ha Long bay, a UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage Site, has seen a bustling influx of foreign visitors that outnumbers domestic holiday-makers.

According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, out of the nearly 1.5 million visitors to the bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh, there were nearly 1 million foreigners. Read full story

- A bronze statue of Goddess Durga arrived in Vietnam on June 18 and is being kept at the National Museum of History in Hanoi to serve researching and exhibiting activities, the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on June 20.

The ancient statue of the Vietnamese origin is 191cm long and 101kg weigh, depicting the image of the Hindu goddess Durga and having great historical, cultural and art values./. Read full story
