Ample room remains for Vietnam-Singapore cooperation in digital economy: expert

Singapore (VNA) – Vietnam and Singaporehold substantial potential for cooperation in digital economy,science-technology and green economy, Dr. Pham Duc Minh from the Agency forScience, Technology and Research under the Singaporean Government has said.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agencyon the occasion of the official visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh from February 8-10, Minh said Singapore, the pioneer in Southeast Asia aswell as Asia-Pacific in this regard, wants to expand cooperation with othercountries in the region in the fields.
Given limitations in the domestic market,Singaporean firms and others based in the country are in need of suchcooperation, the expert explained.

For Vietnam, he added, digital economy,science-technology and green economy have been facilitated in terms of policy,finance and infrastructure.
According to Minh, PM Chinh’s visit aims tocelebrate the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties andthe 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the twocountries, and looks towards stronger collaboration in these spheres.
The cooperation would help Vietnamese businessesaccess cutting-edge technologies as well as the Singaporean market, he said,adding that Singapore would be a gateway for them to expand their reach in theregion.
The expert stressed that Singapore was one of thefirst investors in Vietnam, and it remains a leading investor in the country. Healso suggested the two sides apply lessons drawn from their previouscooperation models to collaboration in digital economy and science-technology,with suitable adjustments./.
