Anti-dumping duty investigation launched on imported fiberboards

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into industrial medium density fibreboard (MDF) imported from Thailand and Malaysia.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into industrial medium density fibreboard (MDF) imported from Thailandand Malaysia.

The Department of Trade Protection underthe MoIT said the investigation was initiated based on requests submitted by fourdomestic MDF producers on October 18, 2018.

VRG Kien Giang MDF JSC, VRG Dongwha MDF JSC, VRG Quang Tri MDF JSC and Kim TinMDF JSC claimed that industrial wood board products imported from Thailandand Malaysia were dumped in the Vietnamese market at a margin of 18.59 percent to50.6 percent.

The dumping is the main cause of damage to Vietnam's MDP production sector, thefirms alleged.

The department stated that, after beginning the investigation, the MoIT willsend questionnaires to related parties to collect information.

If necessary,based on preliminary investigations, the MoIT may apply temporary anti-dumpingmeasures to prevent the dumping from causing significant damage to the industry.

The ministry will also verify information provided by relevant parties beforecompleting the official investigation conclusion in the case.

Publicconsultation will be arranged, making it easier for relevant parties to provideinformation and express their views on the case.

The ministry has recommended all organisations and individuals that areimporting, exporting, distributing and using the investigated goods to provide informationto protect their rights and interests.-VNA
