ASEAN builds legal framework on food safety

An ASEAN draft on a food safety legal framework was discussed at a conference held by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the EU in Indonesia from May 9-10.

Jakarta (VNA) - An ASEAN draft on a𝄹 food safety legal framework was discussed at a conference held by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the E🍒U in Indonesia from May 9-10.

The draft aims to set up food safety measures, push forward integration processes on food safety solutions and control in ASEAN state members as well as help countries enhance the efficiency of their national food safety systems.
At the conference, participants discussed the ASEAN legal framework on food safety and made recommendations for the draft.
They also introduced the policies and food safety systems of their countries. Malaysia recently proposed a common food safety certificate for the ASEAN community, to help standardise food quality and facilitate food from ASEAN accessing regional and global markets.-VNA
