ASEAN-China sea transport route opens

The first fruit-carrying ship from ASEAN arrived in Fangchenggang port in China on March 20, marking the official launch of a sea route for the transport of fruits between China and ASEAN.

Beijing (VNA) – The first fruit-carrying ship from ASEAN arrived in Fangchenggangport in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on March 20, marking theofficial launch of a sea route for the transport of fruits between China andASEAN.

The new route,which connects Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam and Fangchenggang, isoperated by China’s COSCOHoldings Company Limited, a subsidiary of ChinaOcean Shipping Company.

Currently, thereis one trip on the route every week but it is expected to increase to two orthree trips by the end of 2017.

Fangchenggang isa fruit port in southern China from which imported fruit will be transported byrailway or road to wholesale markets in big cities in China like Beijing orShanghai.

The new route ishoped to boost ASEAN’s e🔯xport o🐽f fruits to China and is an effective way tobring China’s agricultural products to ASEAN market.-VNA
