Ho Chi Minh City on May 28 opened acontest on ASEAN among municipal students under the theme of“Integration and Development.”
The event draws 193 student teams from 20 municipal universities andcolleges, who will show their knowledge about diplomatic relations andeconomic, cultural and educational cooperation among the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The contest will also include questions about Vietnamese culture andhistory, especially sites of cultural interests and ultimately the ThangLong - Hanoi millennium anniversary.
The final of the three-round contest will coincide with the ASEANfestival on June 25, where all nine member countries but Brunei, whichhas not yet opened representative office in HCM City, have registered toshowcase their cultural, educational and music products and paintings.
Organisers from the municipal League of Friendship Associations saidthe contest aimed to improve students’ knowledge about ASEAN incelebrations of the 15th anniversary of Vietnam’s joining thegrouping and its ASEAN presidency this year./.
