Australia to provide more funding to PAPI survey in Vietnam
Australia will add an additional 9.7 million AUD (6.75 million USD) between 2021 and 2025 to its funding of the Vietnam Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) survey, conducted by the UN Development Programme.

Hanoi (VNA) - Australia willadd an additional 9.7 million AUD (6.75 million USD) between 2021 and 2025 toits funding of the Vietnam Provincial Governance and Public AdministrationPerformance Index (PAPI) survey, conducted by the UN Development Programme.
The new funding comes under a recently-signed co-sponsorshipagreement between the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade andUNDP.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudieaffirmed her country’s strong support for Vietnam’s efforts in promotingprovincial governance and public administration, especially in response to theCOVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, UNDP Resident Representative CaitlinWiesen said Australia’s substantial contribution will help PAPI further boostgovernance and public administration efficiency in Vietnam.
Australia’s sponsorship comes at a time when Vietnamis entering the post-pandemic recovery period, she noted, adding that UNDP willcoordinate with partners to assist Vietnamese cities and provinces in improvingtheir public administration performance, enhance accountability, and worktowards people-centred administrations.
PAPI reflects people’s voices on the performanceof the State apparatus and the quality of all-level administrations’ provisionof services. The survey has collected opinions from 131,501 people since itslaunch in 2009, selected randomly nationwide.
Australia has been the official sponsor since2018./.
The northern province of Bac Giang will continue stepping up its administrative reform efforts between now and the end of the year to better serve the public, its Department of Home Affairs has announced.
The northern province of Quang Ninh topped the 2019 public administration reform (PAR) index for the third consecutive year, with 90.09 points, up 1.03 points against the previous year.
