Automated customs management system to be fully deployed

Hanoi (VNA) – The deployment of the VietnamAutomated System for Seaport Customs Management (VASSCM) will be completedin 2019, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The Vietnam Customs said it has deployed thissystem in 28 of the 35 provincial-level customs departments, including those ofkey localities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong city, Quang Ninhprovince, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.

The seven remainder are in the customsdepartments of Ca Mau, Bac Ninh, Dak Lak, Gia Lai – Kon Tum, Ha Tinh, Nghe An,and Ha Nam Ninh. The number of businesses with warehouse, storage andport-related activities registered at these departments accounts for only 7percent of all companies of this kind nationwide.

According to the Vietnam Customs, 315enterprises doing warehouse, storage and port-related business haveparticipated in the VASSCM.

Le Duc Thanh, Deputy Director of the VietnamCustoms’ IT and statistics division, said the Vietnam Customs will finishdeploying the VASSCM at all seaports and airports this year and enhance thequality of this system’s operations, thus reducing the time needed for customsclearance as well as costs to be paid by exporters and importers.-VNA
