Ba Ria – Vung Tau (VNA)💙 – The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has confirmed the first Zika virus infection in the province.
The provincial Health Department on November 14 said the patient is a 19 year old male residing in Phu My Commune in Tan Thanh District. He was first hospitalized in the commune’s clinic and then sought further treatment at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City where he was diagnosed with Zika virus infection.
Before falling ill, the patient visited a friend in Ho Chi Minh City, where 35 cases of Zika infection were reported as of November 11.
The health sector has investigated the source of infection and conducted prevention measures in the area where the patient lives.-VNA
