Ba Ria – Vung Tau (VNA)💙 – The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has confirmed the first Zika virus infection in the province.

The provincial Health Department on November 14 said the patient is a 19 year old male residing in Phu My Commune in Tan Thanh District. He was first hospitalized in the commune’s clinic and then sought further treatment at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City where he was diagnosed with Zika virus infection. Before falling ill, the patient visited a friend in Ho Chi Minh City, where 35 cases of Zika infection were reported as of November 11. The health sector has investigated the source of infection and conducted prevention measures in the area where the patient lives.-VNA

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

🐠 Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
