Bac Giang to raise VietGAHP standard chickens

The northern province of Bac Giang will spend almost 18 billion VND from the State budget and the locality’s counterpart funds to develop a chicken raising project in line with Vietnamese Good Animal Husbandry Practices (VietGAHP) standards in Yen The district.

According to the development assistance scheme for raising “Yen TheChicken” in the period of 2013-2015 that was recently approved by BacGiang provincial People’s Committee, the project will be carried out inDong Tam, Tam Tien and Tien Thang communes.

The province willsupport three establishments producing breeding chickens, which have acapacity of 100,000 eggs per year and above in order to produce goodquality breeding chickens.

One hundred households in thethree communes will be equipped with knowledge and given technicalassistance so they can produce 350,000 high-quality breeding chickensmeeting the requirements of restaurants and supermarkets.

In addition, the project will assist chicken farmers in promoting and seeking consumer markets for their products.

Currently, about 4 million chickens are raised in Yen The district.Since early this year, the district has provided approximately 6.85million chickens to markets across the country.

Recently, the“Ga doi Yen The” or Yen The Chicken product produced by Giang SonTrade and Service Joint Stock Company was named as one of ASEAN's bestfoods to be honoured at an event in Singapore next month, which aims torecognise entrepreneurs in the ASEAN region contributing toenvironmental sustainability.

Last year, the product washonoured as a "trusted product" in a survey by the National Office ofIntellectual Property and Intellectual Magazine in addition to beingrecognised as the "Capital's Trusted Trademark" by the Hanoi Associationfor Science and Technology and the Vietnam Association for CustomerProtection.-VNA
