Bac Kan: Disadvantaged communes get aid to new-style rural building

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hasapproved a project to develop new-style rural areas in extremely difficulty andinsecurity-prone communes and those meeting less than five new-style rural criteriain the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan from 2018 – 2020.
The project will be carried out in 29 communes in sevendistricts – Cho Don, Bach Thong, Na Ri, Ngan Son, Cho Moi, Ba Be and Pac Nam.These communes cover a combined area of nearly 133.37 hectares and have a totalpopulation of approximately 66,600 people.
The overall objective of the project is to step by step developthe targeted communes up to the national new-style rural standards between 2016and 2020; to improve infrastructure for economic development; and to developagriculture, services and handicraft industry that are suitable to the localconditions.
It also aims to enhance intellectual standards for thelocals and maintain social order and security as an effort to boost economicgrowth and ensure social welfare for these communes.
By the end of 2020, the project sets to have a communethat meets all new-style rural criteria, 12 communes with 15 – 18 criteria, 13with 12 – 14 criteria, and three with 9 – 11 criteria. On average, each communeis expected to meet 13.8 percent criteria and none achieves less than nine criteria.
It also targets to raise the per capita income in thesecommunes to 24 million VND per person per year, equivalent to 61.5 percent theprovince’s average figure.-VNA
The Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh will spend 179 billion VND (7.16 million USD) to bolster efforts in new-style rural area building and sustainable poverty reduction this year.
Gao commune in Pleiku city of the Central Highlands of Gia Lai has been recognised as new-style rural area, announced at a ceremony held by the Steering Board for National Target Programme of the province on March 30.
The Mekong Delta province of Long An expects to raise 11 trillion VND (484 million USD) in funding for new-style rural building projects in 2018 as the province aims to have nine more communes and one district earn the status this year.

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
