Bamboo Airways most punctual in nine months

The newest low-cost carrier Bamboo Airways’ on-time performance (OTP) rate reached 93.9 percent in the first nine months of this year, the highest among domestic airlines, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Hanoi (VNA) – The newest low-cost carrier Bamboo Airways’on-time performance (OTP) rate reached 93.9 percent in the first nine months ofthis year, the highest among domestic airlines, according to the Civil AviationAuthority of Vietnam (CAAV).

FiveVietnamese airlines, including national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific,Bamboo Airways and VASCO, operated a total of 240,011 flights during the first three quarters, 85.5percent of which – or 205,244 flights – were punctual, down 0.4 percent fromthe same period last year.

About 14.5percent, or 35,301 flights, were cancelled or delayed, the CAAV said.

VASCO camesecond in punctuality with the OTP rate of 93.1 percent, followed by VietnamAirlines (88.4 percent), Vietjet Air (82.8 percent) and Jetstar Pacific (80.1percent).

The CAAV blamed overloaded infrastructure andinsufficient personnel capacity to causing the cancellations and delays. Bad weather condition was alsobehind many cases, particularly flights to small local airports./.
