Hanoi (VNA) – The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) willearmark at least 10 trillion VND (434.7 million USD) as loans for small- andmedium-sized enterprises each year, said BIDV General Director Phan Duc Tu.
Hemade the statement at a ceremony in Hanoi on August 3 to sign a comprehensivecooperation agreement between BIDV and the Vietnam Association of Small andMedium Enterprises (VINASME).
Tusaid the bilateral cooperation is expected to contribute to creating 1 millionbusinesses by 2020 in line with the government’s Resolution No.35.
Accordingly,BIDV pledged to offer the best banking services to VINASME members, assistVINASME in building schemes regarding SMEs development, and provideconsultancies to improve corporate capacity towards building a strong,transparent and healthy SME community.
Thesame day, BIDV launched the 10 trillion VND credit package with preferentialrates to VINASME members and qualified SMEs.
Asof June 30, BIDV recorded a total asset of over 1.1 quadrillion VND (48.4billion USD), 200 SME clients with debt balance of nearly 200 trillion VND, or23 percent of the BIDV’s total loans and nearly 16 percent of the total debtsincurred by SMEs nationwide.-VNA
