The province reported 2,726 dengue cases in 2015 with five fatalities, including four being children.
Serious dengue cases treated in the province did not initially showed typical symptoms, causing difficulties for diagnosis, Le Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Health Department, said, adding the victims were hospitalised when the disease reached a serious stage.
The 100-bed peadiatrics department of Binh Dinh General Hospital has been overcrowded these days, which is a concern, given that it usually accommodates approximately 300 patients at capacity. Currently, one third of patients are suffering from dengue fever, and ten are reportedly under severe conditions.
A working group of the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Quy Nhon Institute of Malaria, Parasite and Insects; visited Binh Dinh to inspect local prevention of the disease.
Children’s Hospital 2 and the province’s General Hospital, plan to jointly examine the serious cases – in a search for better treatment.-VNA
