Binh Dinh sees jumps in overseas shipments

The central province of Binh Dinh enjoyed strong increases in the shipment of numerous commodities during the first quarter of 2015, a demonstration of stable development in local industrial production.

Some key Binh Dinh export commodities recorded substantial surges inboth shipment value and volume as compared to a year prior, especiallyin the garment and wood product sectors, said Deputy Director of theprovincial Department of Industry and Trade Vo Mai Hung.

The province brought home nearly 22 million USD worth of exportedgarments (up 34.4 percent) and shipped abroad 18.03 million USD worth ofeucalyptus woodchip (up 30 percent), 3.86 million USD of constructionstone (up 33 percent), and 34.7 million USD of timber (up 6.7 percent).

Meanwhile, the export of minerals saw big reductions, with titanium shipments dropping almost 62 percent.

As a result, the province garnered 165 million USD in total exportrevenue during the reviewed period, rising slightly by 0.7 percent from ayear before, he added.

The Forest ProductsAssociation of Binh Dinh said foreign markets have an increased demandfor outdoor wooden furniture, leading local companies to operate at fullcapacity to meet orders.

Meanwhile, provincialapparel production is likely to continue growing as the Vietnam NationalTextile and Garment Group and foreign firms have invested in a numberof factories across Binh Dinh.

The locality iscurrently shipping goods to 58 countries and territories around theworld with the EU, the US, Japan, and China as the largest markets.

Binh Dinh is located in Vietnam’s central key economic region, whichalso comprises Da Nang city and the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, QuangNam, and Quang Ngai.-VNA
