Binh Duong (VNA) – The BinhDuong People’s Committee earmarked nearly 190 billion VND (8.36 million USD) toassist local workers and policy beneficiaries on the occasion of Lunar New Yearholiday (Tet).
The money will be used to grant assistancein cash, at 500,000 VND (22 USD) per person, for migrant workers who cannot gohome on Tet.
President of the Binh Duong Labour FederationTruong Thi Bich Hanh said her agency has called for involvement of businessesand sponsors in practical Tet programmes for workers such as giving free bustickets and gifts, and making New Year visits to workers who cannot return homeon Tet.
Hanh said the union is mobilising donationsto offer 4,000 coach tickets for migrant workers.
Binh Duong is now home to over 20industrial parks, covering a total area of more than 8,800 hectares. A largenumber of workers in these industrial parks come from other provinces andcities, with some as far as the northern region. -VNA
