– The southern province of Binh Phuoc announcedon November 17 that it has approved an investment plan for a 54 million USDsolar power plant project funded by Indian Tata Power Company.

The49 megawatt plant will span 55 hectares in Loc Tan commune, Loc Ninh district.

ShenbagamManthiram, Chief Representative Officer of Tata Power Company in Vietnam, saidthat the locality has good conditions for the company to carry out the project,including many sunny hours, convenient transport links and national gridconnections.

Tata Power is asking the province to facilitate the project so that it cancomplete it before June, 2019, he added.

Lauding the project, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen VanTram said he has asked local Department of Industry and Trade and relevantagencies to support the company with legal assistance so all necessaryprocedures can be finalised as soon as possible.

He noted that the province will convert more than 20,000 hectares of forestland and rubber cultivation areas with low economic efficiency into land forsolar power development in Loc Ninh district.

This will be made in tandem with branching out land funds to attract hi-techagriculture development, Tram stressed, adding that the province isprioritising investment in renewable power and clean power.-VNA
