Dak Lak (VNA) –🦹 A coffee and OCOP (One Commune, One Product) trade fair kicked off on March 9 as part of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, featuring 435 pavilions from 180 domestic and foreign exhibitors.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Truong Cong Thai, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the event aims to promote and honour the Vietnamese coffee brand, particularly Dak Lak and Buon Ma Thuot coffee, while fostering investment, trade, and tourism connections, helping to position Buon Ma Thuot as a coffee city of the world. It also provides an opportunity for businesses and investors to showcase outstanding coffee and OCOP products, exchange experiences, expand cooperation, and set up partnerships.

In addition, the fair offers a good chance for businesses and farmers to stay updated on new trends as well as scientific and technological advancements for production, thus working towards sustainable development in the coffee industry. It is a testament to Dak Lak’s efforts in developing and promoting Vietnamese coffee, particularly Buon Ma Thuot coffee, as a globally recognised brand, Thai stressed. Dak Lak calls on domestic and international businesses and investors to join hands in making coffee not just a beverage but a cultural symbol that connects people worldwide, he added.
The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, slated for March 9–13, promises an exciting lineup of 17 key events celebrating Vietnam’s coffee culture and industry. Notably, the festival’s grand opening on March 10 will feature a dazzling 15-minute fireworks display. Another standout event will be the Light Festival on March 12, where 500 drones will create a spectacular light show in the night sky, marking a festival first. The festival serves as platform to showcase the rich coffee culture, people, and economic potential of Dak Lak, reinforcing its image as a dynamic, hospitable, and investor-friendly destination.
As Vietnam’s coffee capital, Dak Lak boasts the largest coffee-growing area in the country – over 210,000ha, yielding more than 520,000 tonnes annually, over 30% of the country’s total output. With a history spanning more than a century, Buon Ma Thuot coffee is now enjoyed in over 100 countries and territories, reinforcing the global presence of Vietnamese Robusta coffee./.
