Hanoi (VNA) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has senta document to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) proposing that researchbe made on the possibility of installing lights at Con Dao Airport in thesouthern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, to improve operational capacity.

The Con Dao Airportis located on Con Dao Island and investing in lighting for night operations isdifficult due to weather and environmental conditions. As the airport is notpermitted to operate 24 hours a day, flights only take off and land during thedaytime.

According to theCAAV, this affects operational capacity at a time when Vietnamese carriers areopening more flights to Con Dao - one of the most beautiful and pristine islandsin Vietnam.

A lighting system wouldtherefore help the airport increase capacity, facilitating travel and promotinglocal socio-economic development.

FLC Group, the ownerof Bamboo Airways, has proposed Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the ACV approvefunding for the installation of lights at the airport to allow it to increaseflight capacity at night.

Two Vietnameseairlines currently conduct flights to Con Dao - Bamboo Airways and VASCO, anaffiliate of Vietnam Airlines. Bamboo Airways conduct flights linking Con Daowith Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh in Nghe An province, and Ho Chi Minh City, whileVASCO operates HCM City-Con Dao flights./.
