Cai Mep port welcomes super container ship

The 13,830 TEU shipis the biggest of this kind to dock at a Vietnamese port. Earlier thisyear, the CMIT welcomed the CMA – CGM Colombia, with the capacity of11,400 TEUs.

General Director of CMA – CGM VietnamJean Charles Tassoni said super container ships, up to 14,000 TEUs willbecome the main vessels for the Asia-Europe sea route in near future.

Therefore, more big ships will dock at CMIT on theirway to England , France , Germany , the Netherlands and Belgium .

Deputy General Director of the Cai MepInternational Terminal Nguyen Xuan Ky said the CMIT is one of fewterminals in Asia that are able to cater for the world’s largestcontainer ships. He also said the terminal will install the fifth superPost-Panamax Ship-to-Shore cranes to upgrade the loading and unloadingcapacity to international standard./.
