Cao Bang (VNA) - An official of the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang has asked for responsibilities to be assigned to implement the programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses on schedule.

Addressing a conference held on February 11 by the provincial Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trieu Dinh Le urged agencies and localities to assign specific responsibilities and tasks to their officials.

He also requested that localities stay proactive, be creative, and find effective and suitable methods matching their conditions and resources. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of raising public awareness of the programme, and motivating and supporting residents in taking the initiative in building and repairing their homes. Furthermore, it is also important to seek contributions from various social resources and donors for the programme.

Localities in Cao Bang were asked to show the determination to complete the housing support programme on schedule in celebration of the 20th provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term. Specifically, Quang Hoa district, Ha Lang district, and Cao Bang city should finish the task before June this year, while the remainders by October.

This year, Cao Bang still has 7,115 temporary or dilapidated houses requiring support for new construction or repairs, with an estimated total cost of over 371 billion VND (14.5 million USD). Among these, 160 houses belong to families of revolution contributors and relatives of martyrs, 3,646 houses are part of a provincial project approved for the 2021–2025 period, and 3,309 others fall under the Government’s support programme for substandard housing eradication.

𒊎 For 2021–2025, Cao Bang aims to assist 16,627 households in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. By the end of last year, 12,091 households have received support with a total funding of over 479 billion VND, equalling 72.7% of the target./.
