Central Highlands economy achieves good growth

The Central Highlands economy recorded moderate sustainable growth in the first half of the year with GDP increasing by 12 percent year on year, reported the Central Highlands Steering Committee at its conference in Gia Lai province on July 13.

Theconference also heard that considerable improvements were recorded inthe living conditions of local people, especially in ethnic-inhabitedareas, thanks to the government programme 134 that aims to provideethnic people with housing, land for housing and production and safewater and programme 135 for socio-economic development for extremelypoor communities.

The participants put forwardsolutions to achieve targets for the remaining half with a focus onmaintaining political and social security and economic growth,increasing investment attraction and improving the living conditions inethnic-inhabited areas.

The Central Highlands shouldalso invest in road construction, speed up key construction projectsand provide vocational training and job generation, they said.

Head of the Steering Committee Le Hong Anh, who is alsoMinister of Public Security, requested ministries, branches andlocalities attract investment and tap each region’s strength forsustainable development./.
