CLMV nations seek to promote post-pandemic trade, investment

Hanoi (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation led byDeputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh att𒆙ended the virtual 13th Cambodia - Laos - Myanmar - Vietnam Economic Ministers' Meeting (CLMV EMM 13) on September 10.
The event was held within the framework of the 53rd ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings in Hanoi from September6-15. Participants highlighted the need to promotetrade, investment and connectivity among the countries to implement the post-pandemic economicrecovery plan. The Vietnamese delegation suggested the nationscontinue with cooperation activities in the 2021-2022 CLMV Action Plan incombination with realising goals in the Initiative for ASEAN Integration andthe Master Plan on ASEAN Economic Community till 2025. It also proposed facilitating export-importamong the countries, especially customs clearance at border gates, encouraginglinkages among firms in the region in the fields of farm produce processing and exportto form supply chains. Concluding the event, Khanh wished that the CLMVcountries and the ASEAN Secretariat would continue assisting Vietnam in fulfilling itsrole as the host of the CLMV economic cooperation mechanism in 2022./.
The 20th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting (CLMV SEOM) was held on January 25 via video conference, during which Vietnam suggested countries study and select the form of implementing projects suitable to the “new normal” in each country when compiling the CLMV Action Plan for 2021-2022.
