Tra Vinh (VNA) – A company in the Mekong Deltaprovince of Tra Vinh on October 25 exported the first lot of a drink made from freshcoconut nectar to the US.
The lot, including nearly 20,000 250-ml bottles, was also the first exported by the Tra Vinh FARM Co. Ltd. (Sokfarm) to the US through an officialchannel.
Sokfarm CEO Pham Dinh Ngai said that the company owns a20,000-hectar coconut growing area that meets standards of the US, Europe,Japan, and Canada.
It plans to ship from 20,000-40,000 bottles of coconutnectar drink to the US every month.
Tra Vinh currently ranks second in Vietnam in terms ofcoconut area, after Ben Tre. It is growing nearly 7 million coconut palms onover 26,000 hectares, with a total output of 370,000 tonnes a year./.
After there was information that Vietnamese fresh husked coconuts can be exported to the US, the price of fresh coconuts in the Mekong Delta has increased again.
Vietnam’s coconut export is expected to reach 1 billion USD in 2025 after the US and China agree to allow Vietnamese coconuts to enter the two markets, according to the Vietnam Coconut Association.
