A conference was held in Can Tho City on September 12 to boost ties among enterprises operating in environment treatment in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region and Hiroshima prefecture of Japan.

Can Tho (VNA) – A conference was held in Can Tho City onSeptember 12 to boost ties among enterprises operating in environment treatmentin Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region and Hiroshima prefecture of Japan.

The event drew 60 local government officials and representatives of morethan 80 firms from 13 Mekong Delta localities and eight Japanese firmsspecialised in waste and wastewater treatment, irrigation, aquatic farming,agriculture, husbandry and chemicals.

Kawaguchi Kazunari, head of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency ofHiroshima, said the locality has enjoyed sound cooperation in environmentalprotection with Ho Chi Minh and Soc Trang in the past four years.

He expressed his belief that the conference will help state agencies andenterprises of both sides become partners.

Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee Dao Anh Dung said that theevent is a chance for local firms to learn new Japanese technology inenvironmental treatment, and seek the best solutions for the region’s environmentalissues.

On the occasion, Hiroshima prefecture, Can Tho city and Soc Trangprovince signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation in environment-relatedbusiness.-VNA
