Can Tho (VNA)🔜 – An estimated 3,000 people in the Mekong Delta region have received free medical check-ups, medication, and treatment from February 16-19 through an international public healthcare collaboration programme.

This initiative is a partnership between Nam Can Tho University Medical Centre, Khoi Nguyen Investment Holdings, and Wonkwang University Hospital of the Republic of Korea (RoK). Seo Ill Young, Director of Wonkwang University Hospital, announced that the hospital has sent a team of over 60 specialists, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, to work alongside those at Nam Can Tho University Medical Centre.
The programme offers free consultations and medications across several specialties, including general internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology, and traditional medicine. Additionally, participants receive free eye exams, glasses, nail care, and haircuts, along with opportunities to engage in cultural exchanges with representatives from the RoK.
Dr. Dam Van Cuong, Director of Nam Can Tho University Medical Centre, emphasised that the initiative aims to strengthen international cooperation and elevate healthcare standards to a global level. The collaboration with Khoi Nguyen Investment Holdings, Wonkwang University Hospital, and Wonkwang University of Health Sciences marks a significant step in improving healthcare quality and medical training in Vietnam while providing local access to international-level medical services at affordable costs, he said. This programme is just the beginning of a series of free medical volunteer initiatives offering health check-ups, medications, and treatments to local communities, he added./.
